Since 1998, Ivan Martin has served as principal violist of the Madrid State Orchestra (ORCAM). He has collaborated with renowned artists including Placido Domingo, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Colin Davis, Yo Yo Ma, and Lorin Maazel, among others.
As a soloist, Martin has performed with orchestras including Orquesta de Camara Reina Sofia, Guatemala National Orchestra, Ecuador National Orchestra, Orquesta de Camara Andres Segovia, Tenerife Simphony, Ensemble America, Loja’s Symphony Orchestra, and Orquesta Comunidad de Madrid.
In 2012, Martin became a member of the viola faculty at the Conservatorio Superior de Salamanca alternating his teaching activities with extensive touring with the Breton String Quartet, playing in the most important festivals in Europe and South America.
Martin has recorded several CDs for Deustche Grammophon, Warner Music, Naxos, Columna Musica, EMI, Youkali Music, and Verso.
Since 2015, Martin has been dedicated to his passion for Italian instruments. Helping people find the right instruments for performance and investment as well as presenting exhibitions of fine instruments in Tokyo and Vienna.
Ivan Martin is a graduate of Lynn University and The Julliard School. After receiving the Fulbright Prize, his concert calendar has been filled with chamber music concerts and recitals worldwide. His iperformance of the Rio Pareja Viola Concerto recorded in 2000 received the SGAE (Sociedad General de Autores y Editores) Prize in Spain that same year.
